Flying over Singapore
The Singapore Flyer is what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris: the place from where you have the best view of the city. This 165-metre-high Ferris wheel is the highest in the world. From the rainforest near the entrance you are guided to a panoramic view over Marina Bay and the nearby islands. This giant Ferris wheel is much more than a ride; it is a scenic flight over the city.
The story of the Singapore Flyer
Learn everything about the history of the Singapore Flyer in the Journey of Dreams, the visitor centre below the Ferris wheel. Through 'augmented reality', the display explains the various technical challenges and solutions for building and stabilizing the wheel. The construction of this enormous Ferris wheel was quite the engineering feat.
Sip a cocktail as you fly
An evening ride on the Ferris wheel is a spectacular experience. Admire stunning city views at dusk as the sun sets and your gondola car climbs to 165 metres above the ground. After dark, the metropolis is brightly lit, especially the districts on the east side where the Flyer is located. The Singapore Flyer offers various special evening packages. Look out over the metropolis as you sip a glass of champagne or a delicious Singapore Sling, the city’s signature cocktail.
Returning to sea level
After you exit the Ferris wheel, you will find yourself right next to Seafood Paradise Singapore, one of several restaurants by the sea. The chefs prepare some of Singapore’s most beloved dishes. Try the chili crab, a dish that was invented in the 1960s. The dish is not as spicy as it sounds; prepared in tomato sauce, garlic and rice vinegar, the crab dish has a sweet and savoury flavour. Locals prefer to eat the crab dish with ‘man tou’, deep-fried bread.
